You will definitely need to run the revised recipe through a soap calculator when changing out the vegetable oil for olive oil. Good luck and have fun making soap!

Gaye, you excel at writing procedurals. At first I didn’t think I needed to read because I don’t wish to make soap. But I started reading anyway and read every word. The hot process sounds easy and doable. I’m not afraid of lye because I have done crazy dangerous things in the past to unclog drains. I lived to tell about it. Your article is fascinating with easy to follow instructions. By fascinating I mean riveting. You could easily write books on any subject. It’s always a pleasure to read your articles. And now I am tempted to try soap-making.

In reply to <a href="https://strategiclivingblog.com/budget-friendly-hot-process-soap/#comment-2420">Grammyprepper aka Lee</a>.

I have been getting to know Heidi as a result of purchasing her book. The hot process "master recipe" of hers is not what I would call budget-friendly but still, it is a superb soap and quite luxurious.

You just have to give it a try!!!!

PS: Yesterday I made cold process soap. Very quick and fast but you have to let it cure 4 to 8 weeks before using. Boo.

Gaye, you are moving way too fast for me, LOL! I got the 'stuff' to do the melt and pour soap, but it's been way too humid for me to make it yet. Hoping to try it this week...I'm at the end of my last local made goatsmilk soap, so it's a good time to try...Lye scares the bejesus out of me! But Heidi's course is the one I will take when I am ready to take that step (she's recently become a dear friend of mine...talk about that six degrees...) I'll let you know how the M&P process goes, and if I get brave enough to try hot process....
