Once again, the voice of reason in the wilderness! Thanks to you, I enter this new phase of life (self-isolated) fairly well prepared and not any where near as anxious as the gen pop. Having read for years that this is coming and what the likely outcome will be, I am just completely gobsmacked at the surprise and panic that is being played out everyday.
Thanks to your previous website, which I followed faithfully for years, and its current iteration, I feel like beside a few gaps which I am working to fill, I am ready for almost anything. The beauty of that is that being confident in my ability to provide for my basic needs, I am free to pursue improvements (more solar, maybe some rabbits) and provide emotional support to others (Maslow's hierarchy).
Again, I appreciate your existence!

You mentioned that you spoke with norovirus quarantined people .. how does norovirus compare to the coronavirus? How do the symptoms compare? Last summer I went to the hospital and was diagnosed with norovirus. Way worse than any flu I ever had. If coronavirus is worse than norovirus then I have an idea of what it might be like to experience it.

I fully agree with your comment, Gaye, that those of us who have been prepping for any amount of time are not panicking. I am no where near as prepped as you, still building up stores (after facing a couple of job failures), but am comfortable that we can manage for a bit. I haven't 'submitted' to the 'panic shopping' but am watching the store shelves and working on building up on what we have. We have no 'confirmed' cases' in our area, but once we do, I imagine we will see 'panic shopping'. I won't be one of them, but could see myself doing 'french toast' shopping for 'fresh' items. Trying to keep on top of that, tho.

i've been making my own hand sanitizer for years: put 70% rubbing alcohol into a small spray bottle. add a splash of coconut oil. use as you would any hand sanitizer. easy, cheap and simple. i have dry skin on my hands and this doesn't dry it out at all.
